Buy Now Pay Later— Collage
It is a look at American overconsumption and the effects of American corporations on both America and the Earth. Buy Now Pay Later is as much about the debt people go into for the engineered obsession of stuff as it is a look at all the trash, waste, and exploitation from the stuff. The frame is black but painted gold, giving a counterfeit effect, and the base is plastic bags with bleeding oil at the top, reminding us what we have done for oil. The plastic bag snake and paper bag tree give the bitten apple a forbidden fruit/making a choice meaning as much as it reminds you of the tech company logo. The pile of boxes and the woman in a gown is the chasing of more and of appearances that plagues America. The overabundance of fruit particularly with the pineapple separated shows the exploitation of the tropics and the colonization of Hawaii by Dole. The pile of fabric at the bottom shows the fast fashion industry making more clothes than the Earth can sustain.
